Linear Park (Sydney Olympic Park)

Linear Park (Sydney Olympic Park)
Description
Linear Park is a hidden local-favourite playground tucked behind the IGA on Figtree Drive in Sydney Olympic Park (Homebush). It is small, but cleverly designed. The centrepiece is Australia's first Wal-hola vertical maze, set under a giant established fig tree, and surrounded by a compact water play area, basket swing, snail rocker, tunnel embankment slide, and a mini fitness station for the grown-ups.
Why We Love It
Australia's first Wal-hola vertical maze turns a tiny footprint into a genuinely challenging puzzle for kids aged 4-12 -- way more interesting than a standard climbing frame.
Giant fig tree overhead means proper natural shade over most of the play area without relying on shade sails alone.
Compact water play via small water fountains for a quick cool-down on hot days -- pack swimwear and a towel.
Phone-charging bench seats are a practical touch that earns points with every parent who has watched their battery die mid-park visit.
IGA next door for grab-and-go picnic supplies -- pair the playground with a snack stop for an instant lazy afternoon.
Wheelchair-accessible BBQ and toilets alongside LED lighting make this an inclusive, after-school-friendly local park.

Tips
Park behind the IGA: Linear Park is hidden on Kookaburras Lane just behind the IGA on Figtree Drive -- the IGA car park is the easiest starting point.
Best for kids 4-12: The Wal-hola vertical maze and tunnel slide are pitched for this age range; younger toddlers may find the equipment too challenging.
Bring swimwear in summer: The compact water play area is great for a cool-down; specific operating hours are not published online.
Pair it with a longer walk: The footprint is small, so combine with a scoot along the surrounding Sydney Olympic Park paths for a fuller half-day.
Combine with Bicentennial Park: A short drive or walk away with three larger playgrounds, water play, and the Cafe at Waterview.
Combine with Blaxland Riverside Park: One of Sydney's largest adventure playgrounds, also within Sydney Olympic Park.
BBQ rules: Use the park-installed BBQs only during Total Fire Bans; private BBQ equipment is prohibited then.
