Bicentennial Park

Bicentennial Park
Description
Bicentennial Park is a sprawling 40-hectare green oasis in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park that feels like a whole day out rolled into one postcode. With three distinct playgrounds, a lake full of curious ducks and eels, water play, and kilometres of shared pathways, it is one of those rare parks where every age group -- from babies to teens -- will genuinely find something to do. Think of it as the Centennial Park of the West, minus the parking drama (mostly).
Why We Love It
Three playgrounds, zero sibling arguments: Village Green is fully fenced with a flying fox and sandpit (toddler parents, breathe easy), Concord West has a nature-based section that keeps older kids busy, and BiPark West is beautifully inclusive with wheelchair-accessible swings and a recessed merry-go-round.
Water play that writes its own fun: The splash area near Treillage Tower is unstructured and free -- just add children and a change of clothes.
Lake Belvedere is basically a free zoo: Ducks, swans, and eels put on a show without an admission fee. Bring old bread -- actually, bring birdseed, the ducks will thank you.
Bike-friendly from go to whoa: Eight kilometres of shared pathways plus on-site bike hire means you can leave the training-wheels debate at home.
Free BBQs that actually work: Electric barbecues are dotted throughout the park, and you can book shelters for birthday parties without remortgaging.
Cafe at Waterview for the coffee-dependent: Breakfast and lunch served with dog-friendly outdoor seating -- because sometimes the grown-ups need a win too.

Tips
Three playgrounds within the park: Take your pick (or do all three) -- Village Green (fully fenced, toddler-and-primary-friendly, water play nearby), Concord West (older kids and teens, bike/scooter track), and BiPark West (all-abilities, wheelchair-accessible).
Parking hack: Register your vehicle at the parking meters when you arrive to unlock 2 hours free. Without registration, you will pay $7/hr. After that it is $3/hr weekdays or $5/hr weekends.
Get in early on weekends: Car parks fill by 10:30am in warm weather, so aim for an early start if you want a spot close to the playgrounds.
Make it a double: Combine your visit with nearby Blaxland Riverside Park for an epic full-day outing.
Treillage Tower heads-up: The tower has 60-plus steps and is not pram accessible, so plan accordingly if you have littles in tow.
Water play prep: There is no shade over the splash area, so pack sunscreen, hats, and a full change of clothes.
Party bookings: Shelters can be reserved in advance for birthday parties -- email [email protected] to lock one in.
Dogs welcome: Dogs must be on-leash in most areas, but there is a designated off-leash zone near Bennelong Parkway and a dog park at BiPark West.
