Winnererremy Bay Playground

Winnererremy Bay Playground
Description
Winnererremy Bay Playground in Mona Vale — known to locals as "Winni Bay" or the Flying Fox playground — is one of the Northern Beaches' best foreshore play spaces, set on a sprawling grassy reserve on the calm Pittwater shoreline. A big, fully fenced playground sits a few steps from a little sandy bay, with picnic shelters, a scooter loop and an on-site cafe wrapped around it.
Why We Love It
The flying fox is the main event — a long, fast zipline that pulls kids back again and again, which is rarer than you'd think on a council playground.
Renewed climbing structure for big kids — a 2024 rebuild added an elevated tower joined by a swinging bridge to tunnel and open slides, plus monkey bars, a cube net and a climbing wall, so 5-and-ups get a real challenge.
Fenced and set back from the water — the enclosed perimeter means you can let a runner loose near a harbour edge without a death grip, and some picnic tables sit inside the fence so you can eat without losing eyes on them.
A whole half-day in one spot — a flat bike-and-scooter loop circles the lawn, a "dry creek" trail hides carved stone sea creatures to hunt down, and the small sandy bay is calm Pittwater water (not surf) for sand play and paddling.
Mature trees plus shade sails — solid cover over much of the equipment and seating, which matters on a wide-open foreshore in the Sydney sun.
Coffee and food conveniently close by — The Bay Bites cafe is located right next to the playground.

Tips
Watch the flying fox landing: it moves quickly, so younger kids may need a hand bouncing back and hopping off at the far end.
Bring wheels: the flat loop around the lawn is made for bikes, scooters and balance bikes.
It's a harbour edge, not a patrolled beach: the little sandy bay is calm and shallow for sand play and a paddle, but there are no lifeguards — supervise closely.
Hunt the sea creatures: look for the carved stone fish and sea animals along the "dry creek" adventure trail — a good game for the little ones.
Part of a bigger reserve: the playground sits inside the Winnererremy Bay foreshore reserve — mixed-use courts, BBQs, a sculpture garden and a Pittwater foreshore walk are all a short stroll away.
