    Description

Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre is The Hills Shire Council's flagship aquatic centre in Baulkham Hills, and one of the best-equipped family swim spots in north-western Sydney. The headline kid-pleaser is the colourful outdoor heated splash pad with tipping buckets, water cannons, a sprinkler tunnel and kid-sized water slides — backed up by a 50m Olympic outdoor pool, a warm indoor 25m pool, an indoor babies pool, plus a cafe, gym and swim school all on one site.

    Why We Love It

    • Heated outdoor splash pad packed with tipping buckets, water cannons, a sprinkler tunnel and small kid-sized slides — water is heated to 30-31C so it stays warm on cooler spring and autumn days (seasonal, open October to April).

    • Genuine all-ages line-up with a shallow-entry indoor babies/leisure pool for the under-3s, a 25m indoor warm-water pool for learners, a 50m FINA Olympic outdoor pool for serious swimmers, and a seasonal outdoor 25m pool for summer laps.

    • Outstanding accessibility including pool ramps, a portable hoist, wet wheelchairs, a dedicated adult/carer change room with motorised change table and ceiling hoist, a hearing loop, and free companion entry with a Companion Card.

    • Cafe onsite that serves a refreshing range of healthy options as well as the classics.

    • On-site swim school and squads running year-round with popular school-holiday intensives — handy for families who want to lock in lessons in the same building they swim in.

    • Birthday party packages in a dedicated party room for 10-20 guests, with 2-hour bookings that bundle in swim entry and catering.

    • Free undercover and outdoor parking with no time limit — 48 basement bays plus around 50 more on Mileham Avenue, so a half-day visit is easy.

    Tips

    • Splash pad is seasonal: open October to April only — confirm the splash pad is running before visiting in the cooler months.

    • Splash pad hours: term-time weekdays 3:30pm-6pm; weekends and school holidays 10am-6pm daily.

    • Pool Hours vary to centre hours: Check the website as typically the pools close earlier than the general/ fitness centre hours.

    • Cheapest way in: under 4s swim free with a paying adult, and a family pass (2 adults + 3 kids) is $29 — far better value than paying per head.

    • Sun protection for outdoor pools: the 50m Olympic pool and splash pad are outdoors, so pack hats, rashies and reef-safe sunscreen — shade on deck is limited, especially in peak sun.

    • Book birthday parties early: 2-hour packages for 10-20 guests including swim entry and catering are popular and book out weeks ahead, especially in school holidays.

    • School-holiday intensives book out fast: swim school intensives are popular for fast-tracking learners — enrol the moment registrations open ahead of each term.

    • Closed two days a year: the centre is closed Christmas Day and Good Friday; public holidays otherwise run 8am-6pm.
