Sydney Harbour BridgeMuseum

Sydney Harbour BridgeMuseum
Description
The Sydney Harbour BridgeMuseum is a brand-new immersive museum opening 27 May 2026 inside the historic South-East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Replacing the former Pylon Lookout, this $10 million-plus revitalisation by the Hammon family transforms the space into an interactive destination with multimedia exhibits, original artefacts, and First Nations Gadigal perspectives — capped by the new SkyHouse lookout 87 metres above sea level with 360-degree harbour views.
Why We Love It
SkyHouse 360-degree views from 87 metres up — Opera House, harbour, CBD skyline and beyond, all from inside the Bridge itself.
Hands-on exhibits on Bridge history covering 1930s construction, WWII military use, and the engineering that keeps it standing today.
First Nations Gadigal storytelling woven through the museum, grounding the Bridge in the land it sits on.
Built for kids 5+ who love engineering, history and view-from-the-top wow factor — 200-stair climb is part of the adventure.
20% online pre-book discount makes a big dent in the family ticket price.
Children under 3 free and child rate (3-15 inclusive) is $22.95 — but read the tips on the stair climb before booking.
Good To Know
Tips
Seasonal changes to closing time: Note that the closing time is 6:30pm April to September, with last admission 5:30pm.
Pre-book online for 20% off: Significant saving versus walk-up rates.
Be ready for 200 stairs: Wear comfy shoes, bring water, and plan rest stops at the exhibition levels along the way. No lift inside the pylon.
Not for prams or babies: The 200-stair climb effectively rules out infants, toddlers and prams — even though child tickets start at age 3, kids need to manage stairs unaided.
Under-13s need an adult: Children under 13 must be supervised by a ticketed adult; under-3s enter free.
Best on a clear day: The SkyHouse views span the Opera House, harbour and CBD — a clear winter day is unbeatable.
Avoid midday weekends: Mornings and late afternoons are quieter.
Watch for the peak surcharge: +$10 per person from 25 December to 4 January.
Step-free alternatives: For families with younger kids, try the Australian National Maritime Museum, Museum of Sydney, or the Australian Museum.
