    Description

Norwest Lake sits right in the middle of the Norwest dining and business precinct, with a flat, fully paved foreshore path looping the water and lakeside cafes the whole way round. It's the easy-win family lap in the Hills: smooth enough for prams and balance bikes, scenic enough to feel like a proper outing, and never far from a babycino. The loop also plugs into the wider Norwalks network of seven interconnected trails (2–4.5km) if little legs want to go further.

    Why We Love It

    • A flat, fully paved circuit with no hills or tree roots, so prams, scooters and wobbly new bike-riders all roll smoothly.

    • Cafes the whole way around let you build the lap around a snack stop, which works wonders on tired toddler legs.

    • Ducks, water birds, fish and the lake fountain give little ones plenty to stop and point at, turning a walk into a spotting game.

    • It connects to the Norwalks network of seven trails, so you can stretch the easy lake loop into a longer 2–4.5km walk when everyone's up for it.

    • One of the safest spots nearby to practise scootering — the wide, traffic-free path means kids can build confidence without you holding your breath.

    Tips

    • Best for new scooter-riders: the wide, flat, traffic-free loop is one of the safest places in the Hills to practise without hills or cars.

    • Split the lap with a snack: the lakeside cafes make a natural halfway turnaround and great motivation for tired legs.

    • Go further on the Norwalks: grab a free Norwalks trail map from the Norwest Sales & Information Centre at 36 Solent Circuit to extend the lake loop into a longer 2–4.5km walk.

    • Come early for the birds: mornings are quietest and the ducks and water birds along the foreshore are most active.
