    Lightfields at The Vineyard 2026

    Description

Lightfields at The Vineyard is north-west Sydney's own winter lantern trail — a walk-through world of more than 70 giant glowing sculptures lighting up the grounds of the Vineyard Hotel out in the Hawkesbury. It's a magical, low-key family night out that swaps the Vivid CBD crush for open fields and dinner on site.

    Why We Love It

    • More than 70 glowing lanterns including a six-metre rainbow "King Cockatoo", a regal Petal Throne, a walk-through sunflower tunnel, three grinning pigs and a glowing barn — big, bright and made for wide-eyed little ones.

    • A short, flat loop that most families finish in about 45 minutes — gentle enough for toddlers on foot, easy for prams, and not so long that small legs give out.

    • The silent disco is included in your ticket — a guaranteed energy-burner where kids (and game parents) can dance off the last of the night at no extra cost.

    • Plenty to do between the lights — a wooden playground, an arcade trailer, carnival games and a Glow Cart stocked with LED toys and showbags keep older kids busy well beyond the walk.

    • A heated Warm Zone to duck into when fingers get cold — a small but real luxury on a winter night that's otherwise spent outdoors.

    • Dinner and the show in one spot — the on-site bistro and Tommy's Café mean you can feed everyone before or after, so it's a whole evening sorted without a second stop.

    Tips

    • Book ahead: Sessions are booked through Eventbrite and pre-booking is essential to lock in your time — walk-ins are only taken subject to availability.

    • Come early: Arrive at the start of your session to eat and let the kids play while there's still daylight, then watch the lanterns come alive as darkness falls — ideal for getting littlies home near bedtime.

    • Rug up: It's a winter event held mostly outdoors, so dress everyone in warm layers and use the heated Warm Zone when you need a thaw.

    • Bring spending money: The arcade trailer, carnival game stalls and Glow Cart are all pay-as-you-play on top of your entry ticket.

    • No BYO food or drink: Outside food and beverages aren't allowed — plan to eat at the Vineyard Bistro or Tommy's Café.

    • Charge your phone: The installations are made for photos and there are dedicated photo spots throughout.

    • All-weather event: It runs rain or shine with no weather refunds, so come prepared rather than expecting a rain check.
