    Description

Dunbar Park Playground is the upgraded village playground at the centre of Avalon Beach, rebuilt in 2020 and designed to grow with kids. Two climbing towers, slides, a nature-play trail and an inclusive swing sit on soft fall in the middle of the village, with cafes and the library a few steps away.

    Why We Love It

    • Spans toddlers to primary gentle bits for little ones and two towers with real climbing challenges for older kids, so mixed-age siblings all get a go.

    • Nature play in the mix a trail of climbing logs and steps plus carved timber details break up the usual metal-and-plastic equipment.

    • Inclusive high-backed swing a supported swing seat makes it one of the more inclusive playgrounds in the area for kids who need extra back support.

    • Step-free access to the equipment a flat path from the Bowling Green Lane car park runs right to the playground, simple with a pram, wheelchair or walker.

    Tips

    • No fence: it is an open village playground with streets nearby, so keep an eye on little runners.

    • Limited shade: bring hats, sunscreen and water — there is little cover over the equipment in summer.

    • Dogs stay out of the playground: dogs are not allowed in the playground or within 10m of the equipment, though on-leash dogs are fine in the wider park.

    • Part of Dunbar Park: the playground sits in Dunbar Park, with outdoor fitness equipment and event space alongside.
