    Description

Calmsley Hill City Farm is a sprawling, hands-on farm experience in Abbotsbury where kids can milk cows, feed kangaroos, and cuddle baby goats — all just 40 minutes from the CBD. Set on over 400 acres off the M7, it's the kind of place where the whole family can slow down, spread out a picnic, and let the kids run between paddocks at their own pace.

    Why We Love It

    • Packed daily show schedule running from 10:30am to 2:30pm, including cow milking, sheep shearing, a working dog show, stock whip demonstration, and koala talk — enough to fill the entire day without any planning on your part.

    • Genuine hands-on animal encounters with both native wildlife (kangaroos, wombats, koalas) and farmyard favourites (goats, pigs, ponies, rabbits, chickens), with animals well socialised and accustomed to gentle little hands.

    • Free electric BBQs and BYO picnic welcome so you can skip the cafe queue, spread out on the grass, and make a proper afternoon of it.

    • Farm House Cafe on-site serving burgers, sandwiches, eggs benedict, coffee, and ice cream for when you don't feel like packing the esky.

    • Fully pram- and wheelchair-accessible with paved pathways and sealed surfaces throughout, so you're not wrestling a stroller through mud.

    • The tractor ride is a guaranteed hit with little ones — rumbling around the paddocks for just $3 a pop.

    • Free on-site parking with ample space right next to the entrance, plus pass-out privileges so you can duck back to the car without hassle.

    Tips

    • Family ticket saves: A family pass (2 adults + 3 children) is $82.50, compared to $71 buying individually — worth it if you've got three kids in tow.

    • Arrive by 10am: Get there early to explore the paddocks before the main shows kick off at 12:30pm. Weekdays during school term are much quieter.

    • Grab a feed bag: Animal feed bags are $2 each and are the highlight for most kids — bring coins or tap with card (EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard accepted, not AmEx).

    • No koala cuddles: Holding koalas is not permitted in NSW, but you can see them up close during the 2pm Koala Talk.

    • BYO sunscreen and hats: It's an outdoor farm with limited shade in some paddock areas. There are shaded rest spots and undercover spaces for rainy days.

    • Leave the pets at home: Dogs and other pets are not permitted anywhere on site, including the car park.

    • Camping available: Seasonal overnight camping runs September to April, with private bookings possible year-round — a unique farm sleepover experience.

    • Check for deals: Groupon regularly has discounted entry tickets — worth checking before you book on the official site.
