    Description

On the Rozelle Bay foreshore, Bicentennial Park in Glebe pairs the award-winning Jubilee Playground with wide open lawns and the start of the scenic Glebe Foreshore Walk. Water views, fig-tree shade and room to run make it a relaxed half-day for everyone from babies to big kids, right on the edge of the inner city.

    Why We Love It

    • Three play "worlds" in one the Jubilee Playground is built as three connected zones with a carousel, cubby house, sand pit, swings and slides catering to newborns through to twelve-year-olds.

    • Shaded by old fig trees the play area sits under a canopy of mature figs, so kids stay cooler on hot days and you get natural shade without fighting for a sail.

    • Start of the harbourside walk the flat, pram-friendly Glebe Foreshore Walk begins here and runs all the way to the Sydney Fish Market.

    • A little beach on Rozelle Bay there's a small sandy water-access spot, plus big open lawns for ball games, kites and picnics with bay views.

    • Room for the dog too on-leash and off-leash areas (away from the playground) make it easy to bring the whole family.

    Tips

    • Make a morning of it: walk the flat foreshore path toward the Sydney Fish Market for lunch, then loop back to the playground.

    • Take the light rail: hop off at Jubilee Park stop and you're a few minutes' walk from the play area, dodging the tight Glebe street parking.

    • Bring kites and a ball: the open foreshore lawns are made for it, especially with the bay breeze.

    • Pack water and a snack: there's a bubbler and picnic shelters by the playground, but no cafe right at the park. There is the Tramsheds shopping mall next to the park which has a few options for food and drink, including a Messina for a post-park treat.
